Marketing your imports – get publicity
by TomBel on Jan.04, 2009, under Trade Leads
Exporting a product from one country and importing it into another is a two-part business. First you need find the right product to import, then you source the multitude of prospective suppliers in order to decide on one from whom to buy. Once your selection is made you put your shipment together and hope for the best you will clear the customs of the country in which you’ll be importing. If you are the importer and you buy on your own account with your own money that means once you clear the customs at destination you got your goods – part one of the process is done. Now you need to sell the product in order to get cash out of it and go back to your overseas source and do it all over again. Thus marketing and ultimate sale of your imports constitutes the part two of the process. Part one does not work without part two and no matter how you want to look at this business ultimately you will need to get involved in sales hence as in any other business marketing is going to be an inevitable part of your business operation. More on selling your imports later. For now think of getting some publicity and best start sooner than later – you need publicity to build your business, to alert prospective buyers if your goods are on the way and you’ll be clearing customs soon, and you sure need more publicity if your import shipment has already arrived. Plain and simple you need publicity to sell more. You can start by telling your story to reporters who want to hear it and PR leads are your fastest, easiest and most inexpensive way to get publicity!
